Did you know that just under 50% of the elderly say that their TV and pets are their primary form of company? It is a sad truth that a great number of the elderly are living a lonely life.

Half of people aged 75 and over live alone (about 2 million people across England) with many saying that they can go days, even weeks with no social interaction at all.

Companionship care provides social and emotional support to individuals who may be experiencing loneliness or isolation, particularly the elderly or those with limited mobility. It involves a caregiver visiting a person's home to offer company, conversation, and assistance with daily activities, aiming to enhance their overall well-being and quality of life.

Key aspects of companionship care:

Social interaction

Emotional support

Assistance with daily activiies

Engagement in activities

Improved mental and physical health

Companionship can benefit anyone feeling isolated and seeking social interaction: the elderly, anyone with an illness or injury, anyone recovering from surgery, anyone with cognitive impairment etc.
